Networks and Telecommunications Technician

POSITION INFO :

Our client based in Wetevredenpark are currently seeking the skills of a Networks and Telecommunications Technician.

Responsibilities:

• Providing comprehensive support for both data and voice communications infrastructure for all business units.
• Diagnosing data and voice connectivity problems and providing 2nd level support as needed.
• Ensuring that all data and voice infrastructure are maintained.
• Assisting with the implementation of new projects.
• Ensuring that voice and data communications systems meet business requirements.
• Effective management and administration of telecommunications systems.
• Managing third level support provided by vendors.
• Providing support for contact centre operations.

Qualifications:

• A three-year IT Diploma or recognized industry certification.

Criteria:

• 5 years’ experience in the configuration, installation, and support of switches and wireless access points, as well as digital, analogue, SIP, VoIP telephony systems, and contact centres.
• Good understanding of switching and routing functionality.
• Understanding of IP version 4 addressing structure and the OSI networking model.
• Good understanding of LANs and WANs, both traditional and software-defined.
• Good knowledge of data communications concepts such as latency, packet loss, and jitter.
• Ability to use command-line tools and monitoring tools to troubleshoot networks.
• Knowledge of networking media such as copper, fibre-optic, microwave, mobile, and satellite.
• Understanding of security elements such as certificates, encryption, and VPNs.
• Basic project management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a broad base of end users.
• Customer service orientation, good verbal communication skills, self-starter, results-driven, energetic, committed approach to helping users, punctuality, and effective time management.
