Job Title: Network Support Technician (IT10)

Location: Johannesburg, ZA

Organization Name: Wits ICT Technology Services

Main Purpose:

Level 1 Network Support to assist with day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability within minimal interruption. Accepting, coordinating, and managing technical support and network operations queries, alerts, faults, and escalations to resolution as per trained processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To have technical ability to accurately check and confirm network health, network issues, customer solution status, and failed provisioning errors.
  2. Accurately report any network failures, coordinate with 3rd parties if necessary, and provide feedback.
  3. Ensuring all incidents under your responsibility are always up to date and clear.
  4. Weekly reporting.
  5. Contribute to the documentation of the team to enhance existing procedures and knowledge base documentation in line with the philosophy of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Matric/Grade 12
  2. Minimum 3-year Diploma in IT (NQF 6) or equivalent academic qualifications.
  3. A+
  4. N+
  5. CCNA
  6. 2 years’ experience in LAN, WAN, and Wireless.

Competencies:

  1. To have technical ability to accurately check and confirm network health, network issues, customer solution status, and failed provisioning errors.
  2. Properly and accurately document all work once completed which will be part of performance measurement.
  3. Monitor and respond to network faults proactively.
  4. Superior customer service.
  5. Coordinating the faults with 3rd parties effectively.
  6. Taking calls, tickets to troubleshoot and recording resolution.
  7. Network points testing.
  8. Recording these entire historical reporting.
  9. Assisting with administrative duties such as ticket data capturing.
