Network Engineer - Tier 4

Applications are invited for the Network Engineer - Tier 4 position to be based in Stellenbosch.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Network Engineers deal with both hardware and software. On the hardware side of things, they perform hands-on installation and maintenance tasks on network components such as routers, switches, and cables on core networks. Network Engineers plan, monitor, and optimise core network activity. They constantly plan, maintain, develop, and improve network security.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

• Manage the RFC deployment and compliance.
• Manage capacity planning.
• Implement and administrate any required change management.
• OSPF planning, management, and optimization.
• MPLS / VLANs planning, configuration, and management.
• Planning and advanced maintenance and support of:

Router configurations and L2 Switching:

• Advanced IP planning, deployment, and management.
• Advanced Firewall planning, deployment, and management.
• Logical design, drawing, and documentation of networks (as per RFC).
• Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the network.
• Enforcement of SOP.
• Escalate all advanced RF or Fibre problems to relevant departments.
• Reports into the NOC Team Leader and assists with management, planning, implementation, and maintenance.
• Advanced fault finding.
• Compile reports as required.
• Any adhoc task as per the operational requirement of the business.

The successful candidate must have the following experience / skills:

• 5 years Network Engineer experience.
• OSPF Routing Expert.
• MPLS Intermediate / Expert.
• L2 Switching Expert.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas both written and verbally.
• Must be able to compose and manage complex network.
• Networking Expert / Expert +.
• Proven experience on: UBNT & Cambium.
• BGP experience.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to work quickly, effectively, and under pressure.
• Advanced Problem-solving skills.
• Good Communication skills (written and verbal).
• Build and maintain strong team and interdepartmental relationships.

Education Requirements:

• MTCNA Certification.
• MTCRE Certification.
• A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
• Juniper experience is advantageous.
