Network Engineer

The key function of this position is to be a technical support resource to support the local network for Power Monitoring, IT and Security.

Part of the duties will be to travel to the outside stations on an ad hoc basis for upgrades and changes.

This role has to be available to work after hours and be on standby from a standby roster.

Job Description

This role will also need you to be the escalation point for the Tier 1 resource:

1. Remote IT Network troubleshooting and support, predominately layer 2;
2. Logging and updating calls via the ticketing system;
3. Interaction with other providers and service providers;
4. Interactive relationship with management;
5. Maintenance of Security, IT and Environmental networks on all sites;
6. Maintaining Wi-Fi on all sites;
7. Maintain the Network backup tool;
8. Involvement in the design of the network & maintain network documentation;
9. Configuring, Installing and maintaining of network switches;
10. Management & implementation of Clearpass switch configurations & implementation of device configuration updates;
11. Comply to all policies and procedures, including strict compliance to Teraco's information security policies and procedures;
12. Identification & escalation of information security risk, as it relates to network and other areas of responsibility;
13. Incident response and management;
14. Problem resolution within agreed timelines;
15. Afterhours user support, as per the standby roster.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Matric;
2. Minimum of 2 years' work experience in a networking technical support role;
3. Accustomed to working in a high-energy environment;
4. Windows Server and Windows 10 / 11 experience - advantageous;
5. Technical competence and understanding is vital;
6. Valid South African Driver's License;
7. Excellent understanding of switching and routing and their related technologies, TCP / IP, IP Addressing, CIDR and DNS, STP, VPN technologies, OSPF.
