Job Summary:
The International Sales Engineer will be responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company's products and related services. The role requires frequent travel to customer sites, conducting product presentations, and ensuring customer satisfaction through ongoing support and service.
An International Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in selling technical products and solutions across different countries and markets.

Their responsibilities typically include:

  1. Sales & Business Development
    Identifying and developing new business opportunities in international markets.
    Building relationships with potential customers, distributors, and partners.
    Generating leads, following up on inquiries, and closing sales deals.
    Conducting market research to understand customer needs and competitive landscape.
  2. Technical Expertise & Solution Selling
    Understanding the technical aspects of the products and effectively communicating them to customers.
    Providing technical guidance and product recommendations based on customer requirements.
    Conducting product demonstrations and presentations.
    Working closely with engineering or R&D teams to address technical queries and develop custom solutions.
  3. Customer Support & Relationship Management
    Maintaining relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.
    Handling after-sales support, troubleshooting, and technical assistance.
    Gathering customer feedback for continuous product improvement.
    Assisting customers with installation, maintenance, and operational challenges.
  4. International Travel & Field Visits
    Traveling frequently to meet customers, attend trade shows, and provide on-site support.
    Conducting site visits to assess customer requirements and propose tailored solutions.
    Adapting sales strategies to different cultural and business environments.
  5. Sales Planning & Reporting
    Developing and executing sales plans to achieve targets.
    Preparing quotations, sales proposals, and contract negotiations.
    Tracking sales performance and preparing reports for management.
    Coordinating with internal teams (logistics, finance, and production) to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
  6. Compliance & Market Regulations
    Understanding and complying with international trade laws, export regulations, and local business requirements.
    Managing documentation related to exports, customs, and certifications.

Core Functions:

  1. Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  2. Identify, develop, and evaluate organic and incremental inorganic growth opportunities in Africa.
  3. Contribute to the development of the African in line with the sales strategic plan in relation to growth.
  4. Develop a deep and trusted network within miners, traders, owners, and financial players in the Sub-Saharan mining markets.
  5. Track strategy implementation progress and identify contingency plans for achieving African strategic goals.
  6. Analyse African mining industry developments and infrastructure projects relevant to our clients.
  7. Support development work for African operating sites.
  8. Ensure business development activities enhance company reputation among stakeholders.
  9. Strengthen employee engagement, teamwork, and discretionary effort in the business development area.
  10. Demonstrate, present, or describe products and services to existing/potential customers and assist them in selecting the best solutions.
  11. Achieve monthly sales targets.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in the mining, industrial, or engineering sector.
  2. Minimum 3 year travelling experience in Africa is an advantage.
  3. Valid driver's licence
  4. Valid passport
  5. Valid Yellow Fever vaccination is an advantage.
  6. Strong technical understanding of conveyor equipment or similar industrial machinery.
  7. Proven ability to manage client relationships and close sales deals.
  8. Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territories.
  9. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience working in the African markets, particularly in mining and industrial sectors.
  2. Familiarity with CRM systems for sales tracking and reporting.
  3. Ability to speak Afrikaans or/and French is an advantage.
