Job description

Our client, a leading multinational and multifaceted manufacturing company, focused on emulsions, binders, and micro surfacing products, seeks to employ a diverse, high energy, and professional manager, as part of their succession plan, to take over managing production and factory operations, as well as machinery and equipment across 2 plants in South Africa, Namibia, and occasionally Zambia.

Please note that this is a highly specialised role and will suit a candidate who has managed production, factory operations, as well as maintenance of equipment in a chemical processing, construction materials, or related binder blending industry. In addition, we do require a candidate who is able to travel extensively in SA, as well as into Namibia and who has exceptional leadership and mentoring experience, as well as having experience in international reporting to European stakeholders.

KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION:

  1. You will have completed a Mechanical Engineering qualification, coupled with a minimum of 10 years experience in asset project management, overseeing company assets such as production machinery/equipment upgrades or new installations, as well as failure investigations, problem solving, risk management, inventory/supplier management, and oversight of regional factory operations.
  2. You will have a strong background in mentoring a diverse team of artisans and production staff, based at multiple plants, to ensure production costs are kept at a reasonable level, ensure effective maintenance schedules, and drive improvements and modifications to equipment and production machinery, as well as production targets met, with the highest quality and safety standards.
  3. You will have a solid track record in terms of people management and development, providing technical support to the maintenance and production teams and ensuring factory KPI’s are met.
  4. Sound working experience in high-level risk HSE, Quality (ISO 9001 and 14001), budget compilation/management (reporting and management of expenses, variances, losses, etc.), and departmental and international reporting is essential.
  5. You must have a valid driver’s licence, own car, and a clear criminal and credit record.
