Thungela Resources [Thungela means “to ignite” in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.
Job Description
You will be responsible to provide monthly reporting, forecasting, and business planning functions and cost analysis support to Greenside Colliery.
The main responsibilities for this position will be but not limited to:
- Direct responsibility for the execution of the financial reporting process
- Direct responsibility for Systems Management
- Assisting the Financial Controller in the compilation of the budget and forecasts in line with Thungela requirements
- Assisting the Financial Controller in reporting on forecasting and budgeting processes
- Direct responsibility in liaising with stakeholders that provide general accounting, cash management, accounts payable and receivables services
- Support other departments with cost management and cost control
- Add value as a business partner to the company
This role is in the Finance department at Band 6 level reporting to the Financial Controller.Qualifications- Degree in Accounting or related field
- An Honours degree in Accounting or Finance (NQF Level 8)
- Qualification or eligibility for admission to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) SA will be an advantage
Experience- 5 years relevant experience in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of Management Accounting including budgeting and forecasting
- A good working knowledge of SAP, Ramesys, and HFM
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including Tax Law, Financial Accounting, Royalties Bill, Mine Health and Safety Act, and Minerals and Petroleum Resources Act
