ROLE DESCRIPTION
Title: Millwright
Function & Business Unit: Springs Manufacturing, MENAT-SSA BU
Reports to: Mechanical Business Partner
Global Level: GL02
Purpose of the role
The Millwright is responsible for maintaining equipment in basic condition and extending its lifetime through adequate and cost-effective (preventive/condition-based) maintenance in the plant. He/she is responsible for identifying and eliminating losses/waste, reducing Equipment Breakdowns, executing unplanned and planned downtime, eventually reducing maintenance cost and improving OEE across Operations through leveraging the KWS methodologies, while maintaining the highest standards in Safety and Quality & Food Safety. He/she ensures that the Maintenance Plan for the plant is continuously updated and executed.
The incumbent is expected to carry out any lawful duties assigned. Limited travel could be required. He/she performs standby duties and works overtime across the factory, which may mean coming in during odd hours.
Working Relationships
- Reports to the Mechanical Business Partner
- Closely works together with the PM Coordinator, Maintenance Technicians for Process/Packing, Stores Controller, Packing Engineer, and Process Engineer ‘Process’.
- Partners with all other Plant/CSL Departments at all levels
- Plays an active role supporting KWS Centers of Excellence
- Partners with equipment suppliers
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Environmental, Health and Safety
- Role Models, promotes and encourages a Health and Safety culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA, Safety 7 Tours and Leader-led observation programs as key coaching opportunities.
- Ensures that all Environmental, Health & Safety rules, policies & procedures (incl legislated requirements) are being followed and acts pro-actively by addressing any concerns.
- Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings in plant and identifies/implements actions to mitigate risk/structurally eliminate the hazard.
Quality and Food Safety
- Role Models, promotes and encourages a Food Safety & Quality culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA & Golden 6 Tours as key coaching opportunities.
- Ensures that all Food Safety & Quality rules, policies & procedures (incl legislated requirements) are being followed and acts pro-actively by addressing any concerns.
- Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings in plant and identifies/implements actions to mitigate risk/structurally eliminate the hazard (including but not limited to Adverse Events, Non-conformances, Food Safety/Quality Incidents & Alerts).
People
- Fosters proactive, clear, consistent and transparent communication across the Maintenance Department, Operations and the rest of the plant Daily Direction Setting meetings, Toolbox talks, Shift team meetings and Shift Take Overs.
- Actively drives capability building for the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance area (esp. apprentices) and Operations, linked to loss elimination and Management of Change.
Kellanova Work Systems (KWS)
- Support the critical Daily Management Systems (DMS).
- Ensures execution of critical Maintenance DMSs and actively drives implementation of Reliability Maintenance in the plant.
- Completing and execution of SAP documentation (including but not limited to spares, notifications, work orders, purchase requisitions).
- Participating in breakdown elimination process by completing Step2, BDE cards etc.
Manufacturing and Operational Efficiency
- A Millwright will oversee daily shift operations, ensuring the smooth running of manufacturing utilities, waste reduction initiatives, and plant maintenance activities.
- Daily execution of reliability maintenance (Breakdown Elimination, Unplanned/Planned Losses) and loss elimination journey for the plant, in close collaboration with Operations. He/she owns the execution of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance plan for plant, ensures this is continuously updated and timely/efficiently executed (this includes planning, preparation, staging, installing/assembling and testing).
- He/she leverages the full KWS toolbox in the journey to eliminate losses in the plant. The KWS tools help him/her in diagnosing malfunctioning systems, identifying root cause and executing relevant short- and long-term improvements.
- Throughout the Reliability Maintenance journey, the Millwright actively works to reduce Unplanned Downtime, initially through replacing with Planned Downtime so adequate (preventive/condition-based) maintenance can be executed, afterwards reducing the Planned Downtime whilst further improving OEE and reducing maintenance costs/spare parts inventory.
Preferred Education, Skill & Experience
EDUCATION & RELEVANT YEARS OF JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 with relevant trade Test (5 years’ experience) coupled with FMCG working experience.

- Good Housekeeping: Ensuring 5S in the workplace is practiced and they are always kept and left clean.
