Job description

This role involves understanding clients' businesses and marketing challenges and distilling them into highly focused strategies.

Our clients are mainly SA based businesses, operating in the consumer health and wellness sector.

Their products and services are often complex and lack differentiation.

So, this role requires you to be naturally curious, a fast learner, a creative thinker, and a great writer and presenter. Reporting into the Strategic Director, you will work closely with the account and creative teams to set a strategic direction and ensure the work stays on brand and on track.

Responsibilities

  1. Staying informed on market, cultural, and social trends.
  2. Conducting some primary, but chiefly secondary research.
  3. Analyzing research, data, and trends.
  4. Assisting the Strategic Director with the delivery of workshops and write-ups.
  5. Identifying brand, cultural, and social insights, challenges, and opportunities.
  6. Creating competitive reviews and situational analyses.
  7. Developing brand anatomy / framework / architecture, positioning, and strategy.
  8. Writing compelling brand stories.
  9. Meeting and presenting to clients.
  10. Briefing and collaborating with creative teams.

Experience and Skills

  1. Prior experience as a brand strategist or similar role, either leading or assisting in the development of brand frameworks, value propositions, and positionings.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
  3. Ability to distill complex business propositions into a succinct strategy.
  4. Highly articulate with excellent writing skills: Ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  5. Creativity and innovation: Ability to think outside the box and develop new ideas.
  6. Creative and compelling storyteller.
  7. Strong research skills.
  8. Strategic thinker.
  9. Experience leading client meetings.
  10. Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  11. Collaborative spirit: Ability to work effectively with others and build strong relationships.
  12. Experience in a related field: Experience in marketing, communications, or business strategy is highly desirable.
  13. Qualification in strategy, marketing, branding, or communication required.
