In this role, you will form part of the Mass Foundation Cluster which is one of the largest customer-facing business segments in Old Mutual. Responsible for owning and managing strategic relationships across Business Units within the segment, this role establishes partnerships, delivers strategic financial services and insights, and optimises the segment's financial performance. Additionally, this role supports segment decision-making and contributes to business change through collaboration with other managers and their teams over periods of up to two years.
Key Responsibilities:
Guides financial health of BU(s) in segment, and manages strategic relationships across the BUs.
Supports segment strategic management activity, by developing analytic and business insight into segment value add opportunities and issues.
Contributes to decision making in respect of major investment proposals/business cases, and develops segment financial strategies.
Understands segment value chain and ways to improve/enhance value.
Proactively supports business change, and accountability for major change initiatives to improve the financial performance of the relevant BU.
Manages financial performance, segment-level expense controls, and the production of BU & segment financial reports.
Analyses the reports to ensure accuracy of information and advice, and accountability for the results, commentary, and integrity of information and recommendations.
Negotiates relationships and contracts with service delivery partners, to improve the effectiveness of the Business Partnering function, identify service requirements, and monitor delivery (and fees and exceptions) against SLAs.
Coaches and educates clients on finance related activity and use of tools.
Facilitates understanding of the financial & non-financial results of the business operations.
Acts as the 'voice of the client' to the Finance community, and exerts influence to ensure delivery of strategic business partnering support for the segment.
Supports continuous improvement opportunities and development in the Finance segment.
Reviews and approves financial information from the finance hub and delivery to appropriate quality standards.
Coaches team to ensure delivery of effective strategic partnerships with clients, and on technical considerations to optimise service provision.
Sets performance aspirations through business planning, budgeting & forecasting.
Responsible and accountable for end to end documentation for assigned, in scope FCI processes (or sub processes) and sign off periodic, internal confirmations on the effectiveness of key controls relevant to FCI.
To take accountability for transactions that have tax implications as well as interim and year end reporting; and manage tax matters.
Requirements:
Qualified Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 8 years post articles experience.
Reporting - IFRS 17.
Education: Chartered Accountancy (Required)
