Requirements:

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in psychiatry.
• Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Psychiatry for 2024/2025.
• Interest in training towards Neuropsychiatry certificate of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa will be an added advantage.
• Experience as Medical Specialist:

1. Grade 1: 0-5 years experience as Medical Specialist
2. Grade 2: 5-10 years experience as Medical Specialist
3. Grade 3: 10-15 years experience as Medical Specialist

Duties:

• The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose and oversee the treatment of patients.
• Running of admission ward, male and female adult ward, Consultation liaison within Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and with the referring facilities.
• To provide specialist support and outreach to other facilities in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Cluster.
• Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care supervising junior medical staff.
• Willing to do commuted overtime rendering after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.
• Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical audit meetings.
• Participation in the academic program in the hospital and all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research.
• Ensure proper and accurate record keeping as legally and ethically required.
• Reporting to the head of unit on service delivery, clinical audits and where necessary quality improvement plans.
• Assist the HOD to monitor, implement and adhere to the compliance to National Core Standards within the department.
• Preparing and writing of reports.
• Assist the Clinical Head with Administration responsibilities.

• The information on the new Z83/online Z83 must be in sync/correspond with the Curriculum Vitae.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be required/requested to submit certified copies of qualifications, service certificate and other relevant documents on or before the interview.
• Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
• HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks.
• The Department reserves the right to conduct verification beyond the information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above, with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualified.
