Medical Receptionist with billing (Specialist Doctor) Mossel Bay

Our client, a Specialist Doctor based in Mossel Bay, is seeking to recruit a well presented and experienced medical receptionist with billing experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients in a courteous and kind manner, whether in person or telephonically.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain records and accounts.
  • Attend to patient enquiries.
  • Run an efficient diary and appointment schedule.
  • Keep patients informed if the Dr is running late and manage service delays professionally.
  • Show empathy towards patients and anticipate patients' anxieties.
  • Efficient filing and retrieving of patient records.
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtain and update authorisations from the medical aids for admissions and any chronic/PMB applications.
  • Confirming of benefits.
  • Ensure that the treatment providers (i.e., doctor, hospitals & stepdown facilities) are part of the DSP list of the patients before admission.
  • Maintain accountability for payments, collections and receipting of monies.
  • Full billing duties such as invoicing, cost estimates, receipting, reconciliation & debt collection.
  • Maintain practice inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Attend to patient emergencies.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
  • Work seamlessly as part of a team.
  • Ensure a neat and tidy reception area.
  • Uphold the value and protocols of the practice.
  • General administration.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years' experience in a similar medical receptionist position
  • Medical billing and debt collection is essential
  • Medical software experience will be an advantage
  • Own reliable transport

Working hours:
