1st Step Solutions are working on behalf of a National Mechanical & Electrical Contractor, who have an opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager to join them on a secured Data Centre in East London.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in project management, particularly within the commercial sector or similar related projects with values between £5-£10 million. Ideally, you will have experience demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.

Responsibilities

1. Effectively and professionally oversee and control the day-to-day management of projects including sub-contract packages to make a profit by delivering within budget and programme to exceed the satisfaction of the client, project manager, and associated directors.
2. Manage the overview of the mechanical design of the system, working closely with the consultant as a supporting/development role to ensure a robust, buildable design within the budget costs.
3. Attend & host team meetings.
4. Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.
5. Review tender information including design drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
6. Deliver the design/working drawings necessary to deliver the project and ensure you capture any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences on their production.
7. Production and technical compliance checking of technical submissions against specifications and ER documents.
8. Production of package scoping documents.
9. Reviewing and compliance checking our working drawings against specifications and ER documents.
10. Develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.
11. Work with a level of autonomy from the Project Manager.
12. Assist the Project Manager with their duties and act as a second in command on the project.
13. Programming of the works and sub-contract packages.
14. Manage installation and commissioning activities of your assigned packages.
15. Management of handover documentation (record drawings / test and commission).
16. Risk control (programme and commercial).

Requirements

1. HNC/HND Building Services qualification or above - Desirable.
2. CSCS/SMSTS.
3. Mechanical qualification.
4. Experience of working at a senior level on M&E projects, as well as ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.
5. Ability and comfort to take on large and complex packages of work.
6. Knowledge of current construction practices and safety on site.
7. Ability to write a package scope of works.
8. Ability to evaluate and make decisions.
9. Understanding of mechanical design principles.
