Overview
A leading manufacturing company situated in Johannesburg, Gauteng is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team of professionals.
Responsibilities
Managing the physical assets under his/her control with regards to running order, preservation and increasing plant efficiency.
Supervise and plan running of daily tasks of the plant mechanical section.
Ensure smooth and efficient maintenance operation of Brakpan factory.
Ensure good maintenance standards to minimize downtime and cost.
Recommend maintenance schedules for all equipment in the section and ensure that these schedules are maintained.
Inspect all sections of the plant frequently and assess demands that will be made on the Engineering department, to action plans accordingly.
Perform fault finding on machines, and improve plant efficiency by optimizing the available equipment.
Identify improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and bring such information to the attention of management.
Generate reports from SAP PM for analysis as required by management.
Identify and conduct training on mechanical systems, standards and best practice.
Maintain a high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and observe safety precautions as laid down in the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
Lead project teams to ensure World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects are completed timeously.
Prepare CAPEX applications for improvement projects.
Ensure a clean and organized work environment in line with 5S.
Ensure contractor compliance to all SGCP standards and procedures.
Inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and take necessary remedial action to minimize downtime.
Negotiate, in the company’s interests, with suppliers of equipment and services, ensuring proper specifications are given and that work done meets required standards.
Perform other tasks as specified by the Engineering Manager.
Report Safety and Environmental Incidents (TF 1-5, EVE) as required.
