Purpose:
Performs diagnostics, adjustments, repair and service to maintain company vehicles and equipment.
Vehicles include light to medium weight diesel engines, and equipment includes pumps used in industrial cleaning. Must complete all required safety-related training including, but not limited to TWIC, 10 Hour OSHA, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials Emergency Response, Breathing Air Equipment Training and Fit Test, Confined Space Entry, Aerial Lift Training, Lock Out Tag Out, Heat Stress, MSHA, Defensive Driving, Hazard Communications, and H2S.
Essential Functions:
- Use hand tools and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
- Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Test drive trucks and vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are working properly.
- Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
- Maintain a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstruction which may lead to harm.
- Other mechanical repair tasks as needed.
- Work when scheduled and comply with the company attendance policy.
- Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices; follow all safety policies procedures (e.g., safety glasses, earplugs, face shields, etc.) to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
- Attend all safety and health training, as required.
- Observe and practice all safety procedures and policies as per OSHA and company SOPs.
- Travel as required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
- Must be able to enter confined spaces such as close quarters, crawl spaces, manholes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia for cleaning purposes.

- Ability to make substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and stand for sustained periods.
- Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Ability to see within normal range with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the day.
Experience / Education:
High school graduate or GED.
2 plus years experience in an automotive service or repair environment required.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be able to pass a drug test as well as a background check and motor vehicle check.
Specific Licenses:
Automotive trade school or certifications preferred; valid driver's license; must have own tools.
Work Conditions:
Requires working indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions, and some outdoor working conditions; exposure to extreme temperature conditions (both hot and cold); exposure to high noise levels; exposure to hazardous chemicals possible; extended periods of standing; climbing.
