SGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil a key role in the Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Northwest, Free State Civil Engineering Laboratories. The role requires the incumbent to perform business administrative duties to provide assistance to Industrial management, operations, technical staff and customers.

The ideal candidate for this position will be disciplined, treat colleagues and management with respect, be deadline & revenue driven, and possess enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. Job Description

Primary Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor / Laboratory Manager, you in the role, are expected to:

1. A Materials Tester is responsible for cleaning the company equipment on a regular basis and ensuring all test equipment is cleaned after completion of any job.
2. A Materials Tester is responsible for cleaning up the work area where the job was carried out and will ensure it is free of all consumables used to perform the job (masking tape, tins).
3. A Materials Tester is responsible to adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
4. A Materials Tester is responsible to orally report deviations, irregularities and non-conformances.
5. A Materials Tester is responsible to perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
6. Be competent and able to perform all duties assigned in the Laboratory for the department he/she is applying for (soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate).
7. Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Code of Integrity & Code of Conduct.
8. At all times, adopt safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Qualification and Experience

1. Education: Grade 10 / NQF3 or an additional two years relevant experience for each year of schooling below grade 12.
2. Experience: Grade 10 and two years relevant experience / NQF3 and 2 years relevant experience or an additional 2 years relevant experience for each year of schooling below grade 10.
3. Experience and competent to perform all assigned tasks in the relevant department (TMH 1 and SANS).
4. Experience in a SANAS accredited lab - advantageous.
