PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To communicate delivery schedules (call off) to suppliers based on MRP system requirements and collect on a daily basis their commitments. To monitor all gaps, anticipate and treat missing parts with key suppliers. Responsible for all activities pertaining to the parameters review, procurement and materials planning for production. Supervision of material planners by respective commodity domain. The role reports to the Material Planning Manager.
POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
MAIN OFFICE LOCATION: Located in Nigel (Ekurhuleni) at the production site.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Communicate daily with suppliers sharing procurement plan & challenging suppliers’ commitments.
- Anticipate, track and analyse supplier’s acknowledgement.
- Anticipate potential Missing Parts and mitigate delivery issues through dedicated action plan.
- Analyse and manage MRP exception messages and anticipate supply problems (backlogs, shortages, no demand).
- Initiate Missing Parts root cause analysis (A3) with the internal stakeholders and take subsequent mitigation actions.
- Plan the call offs in line with production needs (based on Master Production Schedule planning) and inventory strategy.
- Manage procurement plan accuracy & ensure material on time deliveries, monitor supplier performance.
- Interact with Logistics Method in parameters definition (ABC classification, logistics flow type, stock target, lot size, delivery frequency, dynamic safety stock).
- Escalate in case of supplier’s major issues & work on corrective action plan with Supplier development team and buyers.
- Visit suppliers on a regular basis.
- Participate in shop floor daily meetings sharing missing parts visibility and recovery plans.
- Perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes, reducing cost as necessary for positive growth.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently & to work independently.
- Team management and report back to management on daily, weekly, monthly KPI's and animate.
- Ensure timeous issue resolution and escalation.
EDUCATION
- National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain or related qualification.
- 5 years material/production planning experience.
- Sound material/production planning experience in an industrial/manufacturing.
- Advanced knowledge of Supply chain processes especially in warehouse & material flows.
- ERP: SAP.
- Experience with MS Office tools.
EXPERIENCE
- Strong industrial background, with experience in Management: Production/ Supply Chain/ Quality/ Industrialization/ Methods Engineering.
- Experience in Supplier relationship and management (Qualification of suppliers, Project development, Serial Life Management, Problem Solving).
- Experience in Automotive, Aeronautics or Rail companies desirable, with exposure to manufacturing.
