Purpose of the job
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing plans that will drive engagement with customers, shoppers, and consumers, improve market Brand Power, and deliver sustainable & profitable growth. They must be strong business leaders as they will be responsible for working with reporting to the Head {include category} to determine budgets, performance targets, and overseeing marketing campaigns in alignment with business and category objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Lead annual ICP (integrated commercial planning) process.
- Establish brand positioning, identify target consumers, and focus channels for comms and in-trade execution.
- Analyse customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies.
- Work with Insights & Foresights team to conduct in-depth analysis of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and market dynamics to extract key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies.
- Build a deep understanding of consumer behaviour trends to inform product and business development initiatives.
- Define and monitor annual performance KPI’s.
Comms & Campaign Execution:
- Communication strategy development and creation of communication assets, information materials, and product presentations for different internal and external partners.
- Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, leveraging internal support and driving collaboration.
- Conceptualize and execute on multichannel campaigns leading cross-function teams to ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery across ATL and/or BTL channels.
- Develop creative briefs and guide creative direction with agency partners to ensure alignment to brand objectives and performance KPI’s.
- Provide clear strategic direction to Regional Sales and National Trade Marketing teams to ensure in-market execution alignment to brand objectives and performance KPI’s.
- Identify effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis, and optimize accordingly.
- Present ideas and final deliverables to internal and external teams, and update senior leadership on the progress of marketing activities and reporting on the results of campaigns.
Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Oversee team projects, providing guidance and support to ensure timely delivery of marketing initiatives.
Budget Management:
- Develop marketing budget in line with the brand plan, ensuring effective allocation of resources, maximizing ROI, and delivery against performance KPI’s.
- Monitor expenditures and report on budget performance.
- Negotiate agency rates in collaboration with cost consultants.
- Lead personal development and career development.
Job Requirements:
1. Education:
- A relevant and recognized Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Post-Graduate qualification in Commerce, Marketing, Economics, Business Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
2. Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Marketing and Sales in an FMCG environment.
- Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in marketing and FMCG environment.
- Proven experience in identifying target audiences and developing cross-channel marketing campaigns that engage, educate, and motivate consumers.
- Proven success in developing & implementing multi-channel marketing plans and campaigns that deliver against performance KPIs.
- Strong project management and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle multiple campaigns and timelines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics, and processing figures with spreadsheets.
- Budget management experience.
