POSITION INFO:

We are a highly reputable meat processing and production entity seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Manager to join our team and lead our operational efforts.

As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food production facility. This includes managing production schedules, suppliers and procurement of ingredients, ensuring product quality and compliance with safety standards, optimising workflow, and leading a team of production staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, exceptional organisational and analytical skills, be computer literate, and possess the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning and Management:
   1. Develop and implement production schedules.
   2. Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards.
   3. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of raw materials.
   4. Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate changes in order volume or product specifications.
2. Quality Control:
   1. Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
   2. Implement and oversee quality control procedures and protocols.
   3. Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and finished products.
   4. Address and resolve any quality issues that arise.
3. Team Leadership and Development:
   1. Supervise, train, and evaluate production staff, including line supervisors, machine operators, and other production workers.
   2. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
   3. Address employee performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
   4. Promote continuous improvement and staff development through training programmes and workshops.
4. Safety and Compliance:
   1. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
   2. Develop and enforce safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
   3. Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
   4. Investigate and report any accidents or incidents.
5. Process Optimisation:
   1. Analyse production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
   2. Implement lean manufacturing practises and other efficiency-enhancing methodologies.
   3. Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning optimally.
   4. Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
6. Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
   1. Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
   2. Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
   3. Implement and oversee inventory control systems.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
   1. Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and other key indicators.
   2. Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and personnel.
   3. Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Qualifications required:

• Degree or diploma in Food Science, Business Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, FSSC22000).
• Proven experience in production planning, quality control, and process optimisation.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
