The Position
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior leader to take on a strategic Managing Director role, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the South African business operations, driving sustainable growth, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the South African business unit
Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and profitability
Manage and mentor divisional leadership teams
Build and maintain relationships with key clients, suppliers, and industry partners
Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards
Collaborate with the global leadership team on international initiatives
Represent the company in industry forums and events
Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the organization
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in chemical distribution, coatings, logistics, adhesives, automotive industries, or construction sectors
Proven track record of strategic leadership and business growth
Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting and financial analysis
Excellent strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional relationship building and networking skills
Knowledge of the South African market and business environment
Experience managing diverse teams and fostering a positive company culture
Fluent in English

MBA or equivalent advanced degree
Experience in sales and business development
Established industry network and relationships
Crisis management and conflict resolution skills
