Manager – Procurement Operations (Financial Services)

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged candidates. An esteemed South African financial services group requires the services of a Manager – Procurement Operations.

Position Overview: The main purpose of this position is to provide managerial leadership and direction to the tactical buying, procurement administration, and travel teams within the Procurement Division of the group and its subsidiaries. This is a permanent position reporting to the Divisional Head: Procurement.

Key Performance Areas:

1. Develop and implement sectional operational plans.
2. Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the section including travel services, procurement service desk, tactical buying, and vendor and catalogue master data management.
3. Analyse and integrate management information.
4. Manage the procurement of goods and services in accordance with the Procurement Policy and relevant guidelines, ensuring good governance.
5. Ensure continuous improvement of the delivery and functioning of the operations section within the procurement division.
6. Manage all tactical buying and travel related risks.
7. Analyse spend and demand in order to formulate and implement tactical category strategy.
8. Collaborate and liaise with the Legal Services Department (LSD) for the reviewing and administering of contracts.
9. Collaborate and liaise with the strategic sourcing and governance sections.
10. Manage the performance and development of staff in the section.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Registered as a Chartered Accountant of South Africa, CA(SA) and/or the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
2. A completed Honours degree (NQF 8) in Commerce or Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent qualification is essential.
3. A minimum of 8–10 years of experience in a Procurement Operations Environment, of which at least 2–3 years should have been in a Management Capacity.
