The Main Purpose of the Job is to manage and oversee the entire in- and outbound supply chain to support Volvo Group of companies in an optimal and efficient way. To establish and maintain a competitive business offer to the brands supported, tailored to their respective needs.

Reporting: This position reports to the Director Distribution Centre Johannesburg.

Job Objectives:

  • Responsible for efficient and effective supply chain deliverables for all brands within the Volvo Group of Companies.
  • Manage, maintain and improve KPI results consistently above target for the respective brands whilst highlighting and acting on deviations recorded.
  • Driving wholesale development with the respective brands, highlighting changes in parts volume, ordering trends and dealer behavior to support marketing initiatives and directives.
  • Benchmark best practices to the region (Lyon, Middle East Africa (LMEA)) and market competitors in terms of service offering and alignment with local market needs.
  • Manage Inbound Supply chain coordination from 6 international warehouses to secure most efficient and cost effective solutions.
  • Appoint and manage Service Providers according to the scope and need of the business, tailored to the respective brands.
  • Manage landside costs operations and service level agreements against SOP's.
  • Manage 5 direct reports in 4 silo’s namely Account management (Order handling), procurement , Imports/Exports and customs.
  • Maintain best practice methodologies within Service Market Logistics services relating to delivery precision in and outbound.
  • Oversee discrepancy ratio's and reverse logistics for both Central warehouses and dealer network.
  • Manage outbound cost in line with transport savings directives.
  • Manage local purchases in line with movement and refill principles.
  • Responsible for supporting countries in Sub Sahara, North and West Africa and surrounding islands.
  • Support strategic focus on Africa growth and expansion.
  • Conduct business case studies and recommend flows into Africa and surrounds based on volume, units in operation and market intelligence
  • Support dealer expansion in line with Market company directives.
  • Participate and contribute to LMEA Best practice teams and strategic initiatives
  • Establish and implement yearly business offer/KPIs to brands jointly with the market companies.
  • Ensure legal and Compliance to all Volvo directives.
  • Review Strategic focus area's and performance indicators monthly with Market companies.
  • Conduct monthly International feedback meetings with counterparts and within LMEA
  • Deliver reporting and support function needs to Market Company.
  • Deliver business critical input and recommendations on market trends and seasonality and operational efficiency.
  • Implement Digitalization and automation of Service Centre functions reducing manual waste.
  • Lead teams in accordance with the Volvo Group Values and leadership principles.
  • Develop strong continuous improvement and Lean culture using VPS ( Volvo Performance System) methodologies.
  • Take full responsibility for the WH Operatiing system VIPS ( Key User).

Qualification & Job Experience:

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management.
  • 5 - 10 years' experience as a Supply Chain Manager.
