Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and authorise purchases and invoices for Passenger Services, Crew and Technical;
  2. Manage costs in respect of delay and missed connections;
  3. Motivate for any additional contracts relating to purchasing;
  4. Implement cost saving initiatives and manage external service provider relationships;
  5. Attend to common interest matters;
  6. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures;
  7. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation (Air/Ground Safety, Labour);
  8. Achieve punctuality targets, On Time Performance;
  9. Ensure emergency plans are in place for the relevant station;
  10. Plan, organise and motivate for resources when required;
  11. Coordinate delay handling, in some severe cases he/she will be requested to present themselves to the airport;
  12. Coordinate regular audits to ensure service and safety standards are of the highest quality;
  13. Ensure a smooth and positive passenger experience;
  14. Promote customer service KPI as directed by Management and NPS;
  15. Ensure that the external service provider/s align their customer service standards with that of FlySafair's standards;
  16. Provide leadership to supervisors and staff;
  17. Ensure staff maintains effective communication channels;
  18. Ensure staff has the required training and skills;
  19. Manage the performance of staff;
  20. Manage unresolved staff queries/issues;
  21. Maintain correct staff levels;
  22. Initiate and manage the recruitment of staff in close co-operation with the company's HR Division;
  23. Manage staff scheduling and activity;
  24. Enforce housekeeping practices;
  25. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations;
  26. Ensure compliance with the company code of conduct;
  27. Represent Safair Operations at the Airline Operators Committee (AOC) forum at various stations through third-party service providers;
  28. Represent Safair Operations at the Local Baggage/Pilferage Committee at various stations through third-party service providers;
  29. Represent Safair Operations at the Local Airport Security and Safety Committee at various stations through third-party service providers;
  30. Represent Safair Operations at the Local Bird and Wildlife Committee at various stations through third-party service providers.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Grade 12 or equivalent;
  2. Diploma/Degree in travel and tourism or aviation (Advantageous);
  3. Minimum of 10 years aviation experience, of which, 5 years must be management experience;
  4. Experience in the following areas:
    1. Baggage handling;
    2. Passenger Handling;
    3. Operations and Cargo Handling;
    4. Non-scheduled Operations;
  5. Experience in Commercial Ground Handling agreements;
  6. Experience working with IOSA and ISAGO audit requirements;
  7. Non-office hours may apply from time to time due to operational requirements;
  8. May be required to work weekends or extended hours due to delays etc.;
  9. Computer literate;
  10. Strong leadership skills;
  11. Planning, organizational and time management skills;
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills;
  13. Strong oral and written communication skills;
  14. Problem-solving and decision-making capability resolving conflict;
  15. Strong relationship building;
  16. Ability to multitask.
