Job Summary

The Admin Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the administrative functions, underwriting processes, and claims handling within the organisation. This role involves ensuring efficient operations, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and providing leadership to the administrative, underwriting, and claims teams.


Responsibilities And Duties
  1. Supervise daily administrative operations to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  3. Manage budgets, prepare reports, and ensure optimal allocation of resources.
  4. Coordinate with other departments to support organisational goals and objectives.
  5. Oversee the underwriting process to ensure accuracy, compliance, and risk assessment standards.
  6. Develop and review underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  7. Monitor underwriting performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  8. Ensure proper training and development of underwriting staff.
  9. Manage the claims process, ensuring timely and fair resolution of claims.
  10. Develop and enforce claims handling procedures and policies.
  11. Monitor claims metrics and implement improvements to reduce loss ratios and enhance customer satisfaction.
  12. Oversee complex and high-value claims, providing expertise and guidance as needed.
  13. Lead, mentor, and motivate the administrative, underwriting, and claims teams.
  14. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and create professional development plans.
  15. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  16. Ensure ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
  17. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  18. Develop and implement risk management strategies.
  19. Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  20. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by overseeing customer service standards and resolving escalated issues.
  21. Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures.
  22. Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements based on insights.

Qualifications And Skills
  1. Matric / Grade 12.
  2. FAIS accreditation as per the FSCA requirements.
  3. RE certificate.
  4. Minimum 5 years' short term insurance experience.
  5. Minimum 5 years’ commercial insurance experience.
  6. Minimum 2 years' management or Team Leader experience.
  7. Proven experience in a leadership role with strong management and team development skills.
  8. In-depth knowledge of underwriting processes, claims handling, and insurance regulations.
  9. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
