Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Management Accountant for one of our clients.
The Management Accountant plays a critical role in helping organisations make informed financial decisions by analysing financial data, preparing reports, and offering insights into cost management, budgeting, and financial performance. The role is primarily focused on supporting management with financial planning and decision-making to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance and key business metrics.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Develop and manage the company's budgets, ensuring that spending aligns with the business plan.
Assist in forecasting the future financial outcomes based on historical data and business trends.
Cost Analysis and Control:
Monitor and analyze costs, identifying areas where savings can be made or efficiency improved.
Review overheads, and other financial areas.
Provide cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Financial Planning:
Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that support business goals.
Provide financial insights to aid in decision-making and pricing strategies.
Profitability Analysis:
Perform financial analysis on various business units to evaluate profitability.
Identify trends, report on financial performance, and advise on potential areas for profit improvement.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and internal policies.
Assist in audits and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure the organization can meet its financial obligations.
Recommend strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital.
Decision Support:
Provide financial analysis and decision support for strategic projects and business initiatives.
Prepare reports and presentations for management meetings to drive key business decisions.
System and Process Improvements:
Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems and reporting tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Propose process improvements for financial reporting and cost management.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A professional qualification such as CIMA is highly desirable.
Experience: Previous experience (typically 3-5 years) in a management accounting or finance role, ideally within a business or corporate environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in accounting software (Sage Evolution or Pastel) and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large sets of data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable insights.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to present financial information to non-financial managers.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Problem-Solving: Ability to address financial challenges, provide solutions, and support strategic decision-making.
People Management: Able to lead and manage staff.
