Position: Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) for our Traxx Africa project based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

Purpose of the Role:

• Plan and maintain equipment according to EHS rules, RCM and manufacturer’s specifications.
• Manage sub-contractors on daily maintenance, investigate breakdowns and analyze root causes.
• Minimize downtime and ensure production is not affected by maintenance.
• Maintain a 95% availability on all equipment, plant, and tools.
• Provide support to maintain contractual 12 FPMK.

Main Responsibilities:

• Plan, supervise, and monitor execution of maintenance activities.
• Coordinate forecasts from the Maintenance Management System.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are documented and implemented correctly.
• Minimize disruption through effective planning and communication.
• Investigate breakdowns using root cause analysis.
• Plan for maintenance consumables and ensure availability.
• Monitor and record locomotive availability and other KPIs.
• Maintain records of all maintenance, calibration, and inspection interventions.
• Ensure compliance with quality procedures and safety regulations.
• Induct, supervise, and ensure contractors adhere to quality and safety requirements.
• Participate in APSYS actions to guarantee equipment availability.
• Manage the optimum functioning of equipment installations maintenance team.
• Report required data conforming to industrial needs.
• Ensure follow-up of all equipment documentation.
• Undertake other duties as specified by the Service Engineering Manager.
• Carry out work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.

• Respect of OPEX budget on maintenance.
• Availability of tools for maintenance activities.
• Availability and Reliability targets are met.

Educational Requirements:

• Technical University Education – Electrical - Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or equivalent.
• IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance activities.
• Technical background with minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Experience in subcontracted activity follow-up.
• Ability to read schematics and software specifications.
• Knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards preferable.
