Maintenance Assistant - Molteno

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant based at our Molteno Packhouse in Grabouw. Reporting to the Maintenance Technician, the ideal candidate needs to have technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

1. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance inspections according to prescriptive schedule.
2. Repair mechanical and electrical breakdowns in buildings, packhouse machinery/equipment, water treatment and sewage plant as well as site work.
3. Assist with planning of and the execution of annual preventative maintenance program.
4. Disassemble and replace defective mechanical and/or electrical equipment or worn parts and reassemble equipment.
5. Supervise a team of up to four sub-ordinates.
6. Keep working area and equipment clean and safe.

Requirements

1. Grade 12.
2. N3 Millwright preferably or N3 Fitter and Turner.
3. In depth knowledge of the mechanical workings of machinery and equipment.
4. Knowledge of the electrical workings of machinery and equipment.
5. Preferably 2-3 years’ experience within a production facility or similar Fruit packaging environment.
6. Previous experience working with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) will be advantageous.
7. Computer skills (MS Office and more specific Excel (Basic) and Outlook).
8. Good understanding of the OHS Act, regulations, and relevant codes.
9. Willingness to work nightshift during season, be on standby and work overtime.
10. Strong attention to detail.
11. Willingness to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
