Job Summary:
The incumbent will provide day to day maintenance functions to the facility including plant, machinery and equipment. He/she will ensure the continuity of operations in accordance with the applicable company standards and other related legal requirements and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Grade 12 and Engineering N3
• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in hospital/healthcare.
• Proven knowledge of air conditioning, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, nurse call systems, medical gases, and fire system preferred.
• Basic knowledge of local building legislations (codes) and other related requirements will be advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Attend to daily job cards as obtained from both internal and external customers and incoming emergency calls.
• Attend to planned (preventive) maintenance on plant and equipment: daily, weekly, and monthly checks for proper functioning and safety and assist with corrective maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
• Faultfinding and basic maintenance on electrical system, plumbing infrastructure, refrigeration/air conditioning, and general building maintenance.
• Assist with electrical installation, plumbing installation, and air-conditioning installation.
• Management, monitoring, and control of medical gases back-up cylinder system and safe handling of chemical substances.
• Initiate and close out job cards for deviations issues identified during daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
• Initiate jobs and close out cards for emergency work as a result of emergency call outs.
• Ability to attend to after hour’s emergency and be on standby when required.
• Ability to manage external contractors and provide instructions on work requirements.
• Ability to identify and escalate possible risks that will require intervention of the technical specialist.
• Ability to adhere and comply with company policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
• Ability to establish and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships (nursing staff, patients, and doctors) and meet their expectations.
