BMC IZOT Mainframe Professional Services has an exciting opportunity to grow our team in Europe with the opening for a z/OS Storage Architect. We are forecasting to be the largest Services unit within BMC and are looking for the right people to help develop and grow our European-based practice.

The BMC z/OS Storage Architect provides leadership on technical delivery engagements by implementing and delivering mainframe infrastructure projects and contributing to Architectural Technical Design documentation.

The Storage Architect works closely with the Storage Consultant (SC), Practice Lead (PL), Project Management (PM) team, and Service Delivery Manager (SDM) to meet the approved Customer requirements.

The Storage Architect performs the technical hands-to-keyboard software and configuration changes on customer systems and works with the SC to translate logical design into physical designs, contributes to detailed design documentation, and contributes to the development of procedures and standards within BMC.

Mandatory Experience:

1. 10+ relevant years mainframe technical experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer
2. 3+ years working in Services or projects, preferably Customer facing in a professional consultative capacity
3. Expert experience in z/OS Operating System and Program Product installs, SYSPLEX, system configurations, upgrades, user mods/exits, in large complex environments. Strong experience with SMP/e, testing and deployment strategies, problem determination and resolution. Architectural skills in SYSPLEX layout, system standard naming conventions, and software distribution skills
4. Expert experience in storage migrations from products like CA-Disk, CA-Vantage, CA-Faver, CA-Allocate, IBM DFSMShsm, IBM DFSMSdss, IBM DFSMSacs.
5. Expert experience in tape migrations from storage products like CA-1, CA-TLMS, IBM DFSMSrmm.
6. Expert experience in BMC storage related products such as FDR/FDRABR, AMI Storage, Control-M/Tape.
7. Knowledge of BMC AMI Cloud solution and S3 storage offerings.
8. Expert experience in mainframe disk storage vendor hardware solutions (IBM/DELL etc.)
9. Expert experience in mainframe tape storage vendor hardware solutions (IBM/DELL etc.)
10. Experience in developing REXX based solutions for validation and migration purposes
11. Consultative skills with customers and contractors when driving deliverables and setting priorities
12. A self-starter, willing to work without a net with a proven ability to meet assigned timelines with high quality, complete deliverables in unsupervised, often remote, situations.
13. Willingness to mentor and share ideas and knowledge with other colleagues promoting best practices.
14. Demonstrable experience in deployment lifecycle across multiple environments (Test, Dev, QA, and Production).
15. Demonstrated success in building key relationships in the past with Sales, Technical Support, Application Teams, and Product Engineering.
16. Demonstrable experience in producing and presenting storage solutions for Pre-Sales purposes based on Customer requirements.
17. Migration experience with automation, scheduling, Tape Management, Data Center, Storage and DR/BC.
18. Strong experience with install and configuration of OEM software products, such as BMC, IBM and CA-Broadcom products

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at/near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is £80,925 - £134,875.
