Job Title: Machine Maintenance Technician

Location: Strand (Kindly note that applicants must reside in or around the Somerset West area.)

Salary:R20000 to R30000 (Depending on experience)

Reporting To: Site Maintenance Manager

The Machine Maintenance Technician will be responsible for overseeing the performance and maintenance of production machinery, ensuring operational efficiency and minimizing downtime.

Education and Experience:

• Engineering or mechanical qualification (NVQ3 or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and servicing on machines.
• Clean machines and machine parts thoroughly, including disassembly and reinstallation as needed.
• Oil and lubricate moving parts to ensure optimal performance.
• Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts promptly.
• Order and install replacement parts for machinery.
• Identify causes of unexpected machine breakdowns and implement repairs efficiently.
• Maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies by cleaning, organizing, and inventorying them regularly.
• Coordinate with the Site Maintenance Manager to schedule regular maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with product supervisors regarding new products and the required modifications to existing machinery.
• Conduct test runs on modified machinery and make additional adjustments as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Flexibility to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed for machinery maintenance.
• Strong visual acuity for machine inspections and repairs.
