Assist current teacher with online schooling.
Assist with homework and activities.
Create exciting programs and activities for children.
Provide an exciting, educational, and entertaining daily programme for children, taking into account the number of children expected and their different age groups.
Develop programmes and continually research for new activities to update.
Liaise with Reception and study forward planners to prepare for children in advance.
Ensure Reception has sufficient info sheets to hand to arriving children and update seasonally with time changes.
Meet new children and be enthusiastic about the centre and what it offers to encourage interest.
Liaise with the chef regarding children’s meals or particular dietary requirements.
Liaise with Safari GM / Head Ranger / Assistant Head Ranger in terms of available rangers to assist with talks on interesting facts and short walks around the lodge and when extra assistance is needed during busy periods.
Discuss the programme with parents and children and any special needs for the children.
Host activities in the evenings when there are 5 children or more. Offer games, board games, etc. – the more interactive, the better. DVDs should be reserved for quiet time or if the parents request it.
Keep a monthly record of children that have attended the centre - their names, ages, and nationality.
Run a homeschooling programme according to Impaq curriculum and as discussed with Teacher and Parents.
Keep a daily routine which includes other activities and opportunities to learn.
Do not leave the centre with children for personal reasons.
Do not leave children in the care of others unless in extreme circumstances and you have discussed with a parent/Manager.
NEVER leave children alone.
Maintain a safe and secure environment.
Maintain a clean and tidy environment. When necessary, do the cleaning yourself. The centre should be tidied up after each session.
Ensure building, fittings, and playground are kept well maintained and liaise with Maintenance department when necessary to repair items.
Maintain a first aid kit and be trained in first aid.
Deal with emergency situations.
Take responsibility for the safety of all children. Ensure children wear hats and sunscreen when outdoors and always have drinking water available.
Orders for stationery and items that need to be purchased for the Centre. These need to be authorized by a Senior Manager.
Make an effort to keep costs to a minimum and reuse items where possible. Focus on recycling and energy saving (aircon and lights off when not using centre, etc).
Care for equipment and supplies and ensure that they are stored correctly.
Host in the lodge in the evenings according to the roster distributed by Lodge Manager.
Assist with setup for functions and events at the lodge.
Be present at the centre for formal site inspections and get involved with explaining your role and what happens at the centre.
Maintain a professional and hygienic personal appearance.
Maintain effective working relationships.
Contribute to the development of self and others.
Carry out any other duties that may be required from time to time.
Driver's licence.
Previous experience as an Assistant teacher.
