Job description

Pyxera Global (www.PyxeraGlobal.org), an NGO with offices around the world, will be managing a Global Pro Bono program in Cape Town, South Africa scheduled to take place from October 4th to October 18th, 2025. Pyxera Global would like to hire a part-time local project coordinator currently residing in Cape Town to provide project management and logistical support to the selected team of corporate employees who will provide pro bono consulting services to local social sector organizations. Pyxera Global is looking for a consultant with excellent knowledge of Cape Town, project management experience, and a professional network related to circular economy, Green Jobs, climate change (air quality, water quality, renewable energy), workforce development, and/or STEM education. Pyxera Global may consider working with the selected candidate for up to 3 years if and when programs take place that align with qualifications.

The selected local project coordinator’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

Project Development & Implementation

  • Identify and select potential clients (mostly nonprofits and social enterprises) and help to develop Scope of Works (SOWs) reflecting the specific areas of intervention requested by local host clients.
  • Support local host clients in preparing for the arrival of corporate volunteers and ensuring stakeholder meetings are arranged
  • Participate in six preparatory conference calls with corporate volunteers in advance of their arrival in Cape Town
  • Support corporate volunteers, providing advice and guidance around SOW delivery
  • Act as the on-the-ground interface between Pyxera Global and partners in Cape Town, including regular correspondence with Pyxera Global staff and other stakeholders to assure satisfaction on the part of the corporate volunteers and partners
  • Participate in meetings with corporate volunteers, as requested
  • Prepare financial and final program reports

Logistics

  • Assist in procuring accommodations and transportation in Cape Town for corporate volunteers
  • Coordinate the kick-off and closing event(s) for corporate volunteers and host clients
  • Prepare Cape Town-related guides and suggestions for project guides
  • Orient new corporate volunteers upon arrival in Cape Town
  • Manage project travel logistics for corporate volunteers while they are in Cape Town
  • Act as a logistical and informational resource for corporate volunteers and troubleshoot challenges they may face
  • Monitor and advise on security arrangements for corporate volunteers when they are in Cape Town

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Must be based in Cape Town with in-depth area familiarity
  2. College degree in communications, project management, sustainability, organizational development, NGO management, or related field
  3. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience
  4. Experience working with cross-cultural teams and/or skills-based volunteer programs
  5. Ability to multi-task and manage diverse tasks simultaneously
  6. Flexible and able to work in a team, as well as individually with limited supervision
  7. Exceptional writing skills and ability to develop SOWs with limited supervision
  8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  9. Fluent in English and local language.
  10. Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  11. Experience in virtual and in-person presentation skills
  12. Knowledge of one or more of the following critical topics: raw materials, water, energy and climate, health and safety, environment, or education and development.
  13. Intermittent availability March through April 2025; continued availability through October 4th to October 18th, 2025

Salary

This is a part-time consultant position with an estimated timeline of 5 – 6 months with an immediate start date. Pay is based on past experience and the type of work required for this position. The selected local project coordinator will be paid in the local currency of the country in which the work is completed.
