Linesman Assistant (Electrical) at NRF National Research Foundation

Position Summary:
This position supports the Electrical Technicians and other Electricians in the maintenance and upkeep of electrical lines and power systems across the SARAO Electrical Network.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the Inspection and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment.
2. Support the maintenance of electrical equipment.
3. Support the upkeep of the Electrical Lines.
4. Assist technicians with new installations.
5. Maintain electrical tools and equipment.
6. Digging of trenches.
7. Planting of poles.

Minimum Qualification:

1. Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Certificate / Vocational 4 / N3 N4 N5 / NQF 4.

Minimum Experience:

1. 0-3 years.
2. Trade Test Certificate with 0-1 years’ experience OR Grade 12 with 3 years’ experience maintaining electrical infrastructure.
3. Motor vehicle licence (Advantageous).

Experience:

1. Electrical maintenance procedures.

3. Electrical drawings.
4. Generator systems.
5. Electrical motors.
