Employer: Timothy and Timothy Incorporated (“T&T”) Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Job Type: Fixed Term Employment Contract (1 year, subject to renewal based on continuation of a client project), coupled with partial secondment to the said client (“Client”).

1. Job Description:

1.1. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice and support to the Business on a range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, corporate law, and regulatory matters (data protection, copyright law, consumer law, company law, etc.).
  2. Work closely with the in-house legal team, T&T, and the Business to ensure that legal risks are identified and managed appropriately.
  3. Limited assistance on employment law related matters.
  4. Draft, review, and support negotiations of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, service agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
  5. Ensure that the Client’s templates used by the Business are used correctly.
  6. Assist in the coordination of all internal approvals required for the commercial contracts in the Business.
  7. Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues, including new and emerging areas of law.
  8. Provide legal updates to the in-house legal team, T&T, and the Business on relevant legal developments.
  9. Work closely with the in-house legal team to identify and manage legal risks across the Business.
  10. Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to manage legal risk.
  11. Manage the contract management system and related tools and processes.
  12. Provide regular updates and compliance checks on the contract management system.
  13. Ensure that all new joiners are aware of the processes associated with the Contract Management System.
  14. Provide insights on the tracking of the system and Business compliance.
  15. Support the in-house legal team on legal projects and initiatives, including M&A transactions, corporate restructuring, and regulatory compliance (POPI compliance).
  16. Provide guidance and training to non-legal colleagues on legal issues, including contract management, data protection, and regulatory compliance.

2. Eligibility Requirements:

  1. LLB or equivalent Bachelor of Laws degree.
  2. Minimum of 4 years post-articles experience in a law firm or in-house legal counsel.
