A well-established homeware retail company is seeking a Human Capital Manager (Sales & Marketing) to oversee HR functions across South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.
This role focuses on HR compliance, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and is crucial in managing and structuring the human capital processes, culture, performance, and overall people strategy for a geographically dispersed, entrepreneurial-driven sales team.
This role is ideal for someone with HR experience in sales-driven or direct sales environments and a strong understanding of regional labour laws and compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in Human Capital, HR, or People Management, preferably in a sales-driven, direct sales, or field-based environment.
- Experience in multi-country HR management (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of human capital processes, compliance, and employment law.
- Expertise in performance management, recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
- Ability to develop HR policies, procedures, and structured processes that support sales teams.
- Knowledge of contract management, labour regulations, and compensation models.
- Ability to work independently, travel if required, and engage with a decentralized sales team.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with sales consultants and leadership teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a strong, performance-driven culture for sales consultants in the field.
- Implement human capital policies and procedures tailored to a dynamic direct sales environment.
- Ensure alignment with regional cultural differences across South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.
- Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing Director to enhance engagement, motivation, and development of sales teams.
- Assist Regional Sales Managers in coaching, developing, and managing sales teams.
- Oversee performance management frameworks, including KPIs, reviews, and structured feedback.
- Implement progress tracking systems to drive continuous performance improvements.
- Manage employee support programs to enhance retention and motivation.
- Handle disciplinary processes and terminations when required.
- Develop and enforce HR policies, procedures, and processes for the Sales & Marketing Department.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and labour regulations in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.
- Work with legal and finance teams to maintain accurate contracts, policies, and employee documentation.
- Assist in structuring workforce planning, employee policies, and process improvements for regional teams.
- Support recruitment efforts for sales consultants and regional sales managers.
- Manage and oversee a structured onboarding and induction program for new hires.
- Assist in refining and structuring training materials for onboarding (excluding direct sales training, which is led by the Regional Sales Managers and Sales & Marketing Director).
- Ensure new hires receive necessary tools, guidance, and structured learning experiences for success.
- Oversee employment contracts, compensation structures, and benefits policies in three countries.
- Ensure pay structures and commission models align with local labour laws and industry standards.
- Develop and implement reward and recognition programs to drive engagement and performance.
- Act as a central HR point of contact for sales consultants, regional sales managers, and support staff.
- Handle grievances, disputes, and conflict resolution in a fair and effective manner.
- Provide employee wellness and engagement initiatives to maintain a motivated workforce.
