Legal Advisor

An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified and experienced admitted attorney to join TFG Africa’s Property legal team as a legal advisor.

The successful candidate will also be required to provide legal advice and services to TFG’s service and retail divisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Primarily drafting, reviewing and negotiating lease agreements
  • Ensuring that relevant lease contract information is correctly captured on SAP RE to ensure timeous and correct payment of lease charges
  • Provide legal advice, services and support to TFG Property
  • Provide legal advice, services and support to certain TFG retail and/or services divisions which includes
  • drafting, negotiating and settling contracts
  • providing ongoing advice and assistance to business regarding contract terms, enforcement and implementation
  • ongoing legal advice to business to ensure compliance with applicable legislation (including POPIA, CPA and GDPR)
  • dispute resolution including advising and assisting business with letters of demand and summons, the resolution of escalated customer and ombud
  • briefing and managing external attorneys for any outsourced matters and opinions and facilitating the conduct of those matters

You must be:

  • an admitted attorney with a minimum of 3 years post admission experience at a law firm or as an inhouse legal advisor
  • able to build good relationships and effectively communicate with stakeholders across all levels of the business as well as third party attorneys, legal advisors and service providers while maintaining objectivity and always acting in the best interest of TFG
  • a critical and analytical thinker with a strong research ability
  • solution oriented
  • able to work in a team or independently, under pressure in a demanding environment
  • forward thinking and business minded while remaining objective

You must have:

  • a LLB Degree
  • current practical experience drafting, negotiating and settling agreements
  • experience providing legal advice as a practising attorney or inhouse

Highly advantageous would be:

  • Experience reviewing and drafting lease agreements
