MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST: Senior Certificate/Grade 12 PLUS A Diploma/Degree in Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse PLUS Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (R.48) PLUS A post registration qualification in Nursing Education registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) PLUS Proof of Current Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) 2024 PLUS Unendorsed valid Code EB driver’s licence (code 08).

A minimum of four (4) years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing, Midwife/Accoucheur, community and Psychiatric nurse (in the case of grade 1 PND 1) OR A minimum of fourteen (14) years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing of which ten (10) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing Education (in the case of grade 2 PND 2).

N.B.: All shortlisted candidates would be required to submit proof of work experience and/or certificates of service endorsed and stamped by employer (and must have complete dates and months attached to determine experience and grading) prior to the date of interview.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Master’s degree in Nursing, A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in Primary Health Care Nursing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Have in-depth knowledge of procedures and processes related to Primary health care nursing.
  2. Possess knowledge of relevant Legislation, Acts, Prescripts and Policy frameworks informing the area of operation.
  3. Knowledge of nursing education programmes and curriculum.
  4. Proficiency in teaching and assessment in Nursing Education including evaluation approaches.
  5. Possess good communication (written & verbal) and presentation skills.
  6. Knowledge of policy development, interpretation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  7. Sound conflict management and decision making/problem solving skills.
  8. Willingness to travel.
  9. Good research and analytical skills.
  10. Good managerial and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES / KRA’S:

  1. Provide education and training to student nurses.
  2. Coordinate clinical learning exposure to students between college and clinical areas.
  3. Coordinate and ensure clinical accompaniment of students.
  4. Implementation of R.635 programme (Primary Care Nursing); including teaching and assessment of R174, R171 and R1497 programmes.
  5. Develop and ensure implementation of quality assurance programmes.
  6. Collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders and build a sound relationship within the Department.
  7. Oversee the supervision of students.
  8. Policy analysis and development.
  9. Development and review of nursing curricula for all categories of training.
  10. Implements the new nursing programmes in line with SANC and CHE regulations.
  11. Participate in the provisioning of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) activities at the Campus.
  12. Participate in all governance structures of the College.
  13. Support the mission and promote the image of the college.
  14. Exercise control over students.
