Lecturer: Philosophy & African Studies (Permanent)

Background

Key roles and responsibilities:

1. Deliver lectures in the specified areas: Philosophy/African Studies
2. Conduct assessments and moderation
3. Develop and manage study materials, coordinate modules, and handle academic administration
4. Lead research activities and mark assignments and exams
5. Utilise the Learning Management System (LMS) effectively

Qualifications and experience:

1. Master’s degree in Arts with a specialisation in Philosophy or a related field.
2. Proven higher education teaching experience and familiarity with LMS platforms like Canvas.
3. Competency in research databases (e.g., EBSCOhost, myJuta).
4. Strong communication, organisation, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Key attributes:

1. Ability to work both independently and in a team, with flexibility to work across different teaching modes.
2. A willingness to work after hours and teach across various Arts and Humanities fields.
