Job description

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Applications are invited for the above post from suitably qualified and experienced applicants.

  • To show the potential to provide academic leadership to staff and students in the Business School
  • Conduct, publish, and supervise research
  • To create, develop and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competitiveness by students on the MBA and other programmes enabling them to become competent and experienced managers.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Facilitating the learning processes and outcomes of the Business School
  • Contributing and lecturing on the MBA programmes and Maritime Management, Strategic Maritime Management, Research Methodology and Business Strategy.
  • Directing and ensuring academic and industry engagement
  • Conducting, publishing, supervising and promoting research
  • Performing administrative and management duties in the Business School

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Expert knowledge in the theory and application of relevant MBA disciplines and Maritime Management
  • Good business and industry related experience
  • Experience at facilitating learning of adult and post-graduate students
  • Potential to act as supervisor for postgraduate students
  • The ability to supervise and promote research
  • Excellent networking skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Requirements

In order to be considered for appointment to the lecturer post, candidates must:

  • Be in possession of a masters degree in a business-related field of study
  • Have 2 years relevant lecturing / business / consulting experience
  • Co-Supervise postgraduate students
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have presented research findings at conferences
