Job title : Lecturer : New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) (Faculty of Health Sciences : Department of Nursing) (Re-Advert)
Job Location : Gauteng, Johannesburg
Deadline : April 04

Responsibilities : The successful candidate is expected to contribute meaningfully to the projects of the Department and teach postgraduate in occupational health in the Department of Nursing.

In particular, the incumbent will be expected to:

  1. Register for a PhD degree in Occupational Health Nursing or undertake post-doctoral studies.
  2. Prepare and deliver lectures for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students.
  3. Prepare and conduct practical sessions for the students.
  4. Prepare and mark assignments, tests, and exams.
  5. Assist with developing course material for Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing.
  6. Actively conduct research (0.5 research output units per year) and establish their own niche area in Occupational Health Nursing and participate in research activities leading to publication of articles.
  7. Be actively involved in core activities of the Department such as academic administration, research, short course development, marketing, and community development projects.

Minimum Requirements :

  1. Master's degree (NQF 9) in Occupational Health Nursing with a 70% average pass mark.
  2. The candidate will be required to register for the PhD.
  3. Registered with SANC as a professional nurse and midwife.
  4. Registered with SANC as a Post Basic Occupational Health Nurse and as a nurse educator, assessor, and moderator.
  5. A minimum of three years' working experience in the occupational health nursing discipline.
  6. Experience in clinical accompaniment of post basic occupational health nursing students.
  7. Excellent communication skills in English.
  8. Published scientific article(s) in accredited subject-related journals.

Recommendations :

  1. To register for a PhD Degree.
  2. Experience in the use of a simulation laboratory.
  3. Previous relevant experience in a university environment.
  4. A minimum of three years' teaching experience in occupational health nursing in an academic tertiary institution.
