Job Purpose
- The ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and produce prospective graduates in the fields of (i) Construction Management and (ii) Quantity Surveying.
- Contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the department to enhance learning according to the needs of the industry and the department’s teaching & learning goals.
- Incorporate teaching & learning, and research & innovation outcomes into an academic project.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A Master's degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.
- At least 2 years relevant teaching experience in higher education or 2 years industrial experience in the Built Environment.
Recommendation
- Registration with a relevant professional body.
- Eligible to register for a Doctorate degree. Successful applicants commit to studying towards and completing a cognate Doctorate within 5 years of appointment.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Lecturing on the Diploma, Advanced Diplomas and Postgraduate Diploma levels.
- Academic administration.
- Conducting research and postgraduate supervision.
- Participation in SACPCMP and SACQSP professional body accreditation.
- Participation in Quality Assurance activities.
- Participation in Industry Advisory Committees & partnerships.
- Assisting with Community engagement, WIL and service learning initiatives.
- Assisting with recruitment, admissions and marketing.
- Language proficiency: English and any other official language.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Computer literacy in MS Office with good organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the latest technology and developments in the field of Construction Management & Quantity Surveying.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of continuous evaluation and integrated assessment.
