Job summary:

We are seeking exceptional learning strategists with a developed understanding of instructional design, learning content, and curriculum/programmatic design to take a leading role within our world-class learning design team.

The Learning Strategist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the successful pedagogical design and development of learning materials (programmes, courses, videos, assessments, etc.), applying practices for online learning, and meeting client satisfaction. To succeed in this role, you will need to be a highly skilled professional with an advanced grasp of best practices in instructional design, both fully online and blended. You should be passionate about learning science and have a developed ability to design and deliver innovative, rich, and impactful learning experiences.

The Learning Strategist (LS) has a dual role: to oversee the project lifecycle from initiation to final handover, and to manage Learning Designers, guiding them in solving client needs and ensuring efficient, research-based learning that aligns with budgets and client interests. The Learning Strategist ensures designed courses meet expectations, sticks to scope and escalates concerns promptly to the appropriate people.

You represent Construct in client calls, so you will be confident communicating and negotiating at a senior level. You’ll own your expertise and act as a trusted professional who can convince the client of quality learning science. The Learning Strategist will foster robust relationships with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, while also adhering to the client's needs and expectations as outlined in the agreed Statement of Work (SOW) and Learning Strategy & Framework documents.

To do:

Leadership & People Management

  • Manage and coach a team of learning designers ensuring performance deliverables are achieved.
  • Provide coaching, performance management and career/personal development of team members.
  • Induction and integration of the learning design team into Construct culture, values and ethos.

Learning Theory, Strategy and Design:

  • Design world-class online and blended learning strategies in response to clients’ strategic, pedagogical and practical needs.
  • Lead the 'discovery phase' of projects, including co-creation workshops/design sprints with clients and the wider Construct team to develop solutions mapped to learning and business goals.
  • Coach clients through a Design Sprint Process, following inductive models of curriculum design.
  • Define learning and evaluation strategies in collaboration with client project leadership.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers and other leads to jointly ensure the success of the projects under their scope.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as the primary client liaison for all learning and education related aspects.
  • Present and champion learning and design concepts to clients as ‘the expert in the room’ on design calls.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and deliver exceptional online and blended learning experiences.
  • Manage and coach a remote team of instructional designers, assuring output and delivery standards.
  • Produce evaluation reports based on data generated by course builders.

Requirements

  • Minimum undergraduate degree. Preferably EdTech or education-related. (Post-graduate qualification preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience designing theory-informed, strategically-driven online and blended learning experiences.
  • Experience in curriculum and content design for face-to-face, online, and/or blended learning experiences, ideally for adult learners.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders in client organisations.
  • Experience teaching face-to-face, online, and/or as part of a blended learning programme.
  • Proven understanding of instructional design, learning management systems, and e-learning authoring tools.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of andragogy and pedagogy.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading teams and line management of between 5 and 8 people.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and an ability to work to deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues and clients, both in person and while working remotely with teams based in other parts of the world.
  • An ability to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively, both in written and verbal form.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
