Job description

Purpose of Role

Plan, coordinate, and deliver training sessions and outcomes based on mining and trackless mobile machinery assessments and moderations. Ensure the quality of training delivery, assessments, and moderations according to ISO 9001:2015 principles, Trackless Mobile Machinery Skills programs, and Safety programs related to Surface Mining.

Role Context

  • Conduct learning facilitation of Trackless Mobile Machinery Surface Mining Skills Programmes and ensure the proper operation of mining equipment.
  • Address identified unsafe operators’ behaviors and provide on-the-job coaching interventions.
  • Monitor progress of operators and mining employees’ portfolios (theoretical and practical).
  • Engage with the L&D Mining Specialist, production supervisors, and mine training administrator.
  • Attend weekly and monthly departmental meetings.
  • Communicate training schedules to the relevant supervisors.
  • Ensure all learning records are recorded, uploaded, and filed by the L&D administrator.
  • Submit weekly training progress reports to L&D Mining Specialist.
  • Attend ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management meetings.
  • Participate in ISO 9001:2015 audits.
  • Review learning material and supporting documents within the Mining Department.
  • Facilitate Ad Hoc training/workshops as requested from time to time.
  • Review, evaluate, and monitor all training programs to ensure compliance with Tharisa Minerals (TM) policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect feedback from participants and line management to assess the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in L&D audits by preparing all relevant information and documentation needed and cooperating during on-site inspections.
  • Address and report all non-compliance with TM policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements to the L&D Specialist.
  • Drive and monitor safety during walkabouts in the plant/mine to ensure compliance with TM policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage record-keeping and compliance with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards.
  • Monitor the implementation and maintenance of internal quality management systems.
  • Determine resource needs within own area of responsibility.
  • Request required assets and resources for the fulfillment of work duties.
  • Use assets and resources optimally within own area of responsibility.
  • Manage, monitor, and coordinate all training logistics to ensure the availability of all required resources.
  • Review and evaluate the learning material and supporting documents, sending outdated material back to external providers.
  • Identify and recommend the latest tools for moderating training programs.
  • Engage with relevant Departments on issues of specialization as directed by the L&D Specialist.
  • Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders to achieve work objectives.
  • Participate in meetings with the L&D Specialist to provide insights and feedback regarding training.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
  • OD-ETDP Diploma.
  • Train the Trainer Certificate.
  • National Certification in Surface Excavation (62869).
  • Surface Mining Skills Programme: Operate Mobile Machinery for Surface Operations (v5) (MQA/SP/0177/19).
  • Various Skills Programmes for operating mobile machinery (MQA/SP/0177/19).
  • Competent A - The Examination, making safe, and declaring safe of Surface Mines, Quarries, Dumps, and Stockpiles.
  • MQA Registrations Trackless Mobile Machinery Assessor and Moderator.
  • OEM Certifications for various machinery.
  • Skills programme for OH&S Representatives qualification will be an added advantage.
  • First Aid and Fire Fighting certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Job Specific Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years in Learning and Development, with at least two years focused on assessments and moderations in the Surface Mining Environment.
  • Experience in facilitating Competent A and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to plan, work under pressure, and support safety delivery.
  • Technical product knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Must be medically fit.
