Lead Quality Engineer

Lead a team of Technicians:

• Must be analytical and high attention to detail.
• Must also be able to work independently and as part of a team when required.
• Must be able to use own initiative.
• Sense of urgency.
• Quality Management and Analysis Systems such as: QDAS (Data Analysis System for Capability and Trouble Shooting), Quality Worx, QLS (Quality Leadership System); engineering workstation; Microsoft Office Tools.

Degree/National Diploma in Quality / Chemical / Mechanical / Operations Management.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Paint Shop, Leading Teams.

• Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.
• Manage and direct statistical process control activities.
• Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis.
• Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor quality target levels.
• Provide input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations.
• Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods.
• Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements.
• Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers.
• Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility.
• Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
• Responsible for leading QOS (Quality Operating System) initiatives within the production department.
• Provide Quality support to production department.
• Review with production team leaders and Process Coaches quality issues and be the point of contact with other departments such as Bodyshop, TCF, AQA and MP&L.
• Coordinate during quality concerns containment actions, dock holds, special checks to eliminate any impact to customer.
• Keep traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference.
• Manage quality documentation on FTT, FRC (First Time Through), 8Ds, Scrap, TH Holds, Campaigns, etc.
• Prepare standard reports for Quality reviews within the plant and with other areas.
• Lead cross-functional team initiatives in quality to achieve no faults forward / zero defects.
• Lead 8D resolution of Warranty and VO (Vehicle Operation) concerns working together with Quality, MP&L (Material Planning & Logistics), Machining and VO.

Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments (Control Plan Adherence).
