Job description

The Lead Asset Integrity Management (AIM) Engineer leads a team of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists to provide asset integrity, reliability, and risk assessment services to clients. The Lead AIM Engineer reports directly to the Technical Centre Manager of South Africa.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate Engineer (Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgical disciplines) with preference for professional registration at ECSA,
  • OR Bachelor in Technical Engineering (with relevant experience), with professional registration at ECSA preferred.
  • Post Graduate qualifications in any of the above disciplines will be advantageous.
  • At least 7 years relevant experience in the Energy / Power / Petrochemical / Manufacturing / Mining / Oil, Gas, Chemical industry.
  • Internal or external consulting experience (5 years),
  • Project management experience (3 years)
  • Risk and safety experience (1 year)
  • Cross-functional discipline experience (5 years)
  • Business development experience (2 years)
  • Experience in developing technical solutions and associated commercial proposals,
  • Proficiency in using computer software (MS Suite: Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook), and experience in writing procedures or technical reports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the AIM project team and contribute to meeting departmental operational performance and objectives. Responsible for managing and monitoring the delivery of AIM projects within the KPIs set for cost, schedule, and quality, as well as the timely issuance of deliverables and AIM quotations to address variation orders.
  • Determine project execution plans, set work breakdown structures, and deliverables/milestones to ensure profitability of contract execution.
  • Conduct OPEX studies such as Remaining Life Assessment, Fitness For Service analysis, and support for technical advisory/oversight management of Advanced NDT and Inspection.
  • Oversee consultancy activities in Asset Integrity including Risk Assessments, RBI implementation, Structural Integrity Management, Pipeline Integrity Management, and Corrosion Management.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to identify new clients and present AIM services, contributing to sales strategies and growth in OGC and P&U markets.
  • Attend sales follow-up meetings and provide feedback on project progress and opportunities.
  • Provide inputs to the TC Manager for the Training Plan of AIM engineers, identify competency needs, and participate in recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
  • Ensure transfer of knowledge and skills within the AIM department to assist with succession planning.
  • Support the Industry Department Quality & HSSE performance and objectives.
