Main Purpose of the Role

Key Account Manager of our large, medium and small sized clients and managing protecting, growing and innovating these businesses. Driving profitability with each of these clients, whilst adding value to the client’s supply chain and supporting with day to day requirements, strategic support and various DSV product service offerings.

Job Related Requirements

  1. Grade 12
  2. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding
  3. Minimum of 3 years customer facing experience
  4. Own vehicle, drivers license, ability to travel

Electives

B.Com Logistics/Supply Chain Management would be beneficial but not a requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Managing multiple large, medium and small sized clients according to the stages in a client life cycle and logging on average 15 - 20 appointments weekly.
  2. Ensuring the Executive Sponsor relationship is maintained with your client sponsor and the client.
  3. Creating and maintaining the client information pack.
  4. Manage the opening of accounts process as well as comprehensive implementation of – and continuous updating of client information.
  5. Be accountable for the contract negotiations process, understanding and mitigating the risk identified.
  6. Presenting to and implementing new DSV products, processes and strategies with client(s).
  7. Management of client queries.
  8. Quality checking estimates and ensuring they are submitted on time.
  9. Compile client specific business reports and quality checking data integrity.
  10. Identify Opportunities for growth within the client’s business.
  11. Record under threat and lost accounts on CRM system and proper implementation.
  12. Manage service level agreements through reporting and reviews including identifying exceptions and corrective actions.
  13. Facilitate rate negotiations and increases.
  14. Arrange and control customer action plan processes for clients.
  15. Identify and report on quantified value for clients.
  16. Take meeting minutes and follow through to close out.
  17. Manage client debtors to keep within the agreed payment terms and resolve queries in days sales outstanding.
  18. Ensure standard operating procedures are signed off by the clients, documented and maintained.
  19. Ensure DSV complies with client health, safety and environment requirements.
  20. Compile monthly revenue reports for clients and portfolio.
  21. Co-ordinate available client logistics training.
  22. Compile and present Performance Management Reviews detailing on time and in full performance to various clients.
  23. Compile and present General Management Reviews including shipment stats, financial data and other relevant info such as QVA to certain clients.
  24. Compiling, monitoring and presenting customised client reports as may be required by the client.
  25. Running continuous improvement projects for all clients to maintain system relevance and advance or re-design support services in conjunction with the implementation team.
  26. Ensuring the client is given access to any DSV reports/reporting systems, which may be of assistance to them such as the Audit & Review, MyDSV, Purchase Order Management, etc.
  27. Ensure call plan recorded on MS Dynamics on a weekly basis.
  28. Record Lost Business on Red Account report on MS Dynamics.
  29. Monitoring and manage Triple Deck Verification and executive sponsor activity for top accounts.
  30. Maintain, analyse and update Account Management strategy on a monthly basis which includes:
  • Monitoring service levels and volumes for each mode (air, ocean, road, etc.) and department (exports, imports, logistics, etc.).
  • Monitoring client’s payment cycles as well as outstanding payments in order to ensure compliance with payment terms and agreements.
  • Monitoring credit notes.
  • Monitoring write-offs.
  • Monitoring opportunities for new/extended business & QVA.
  • Maintain and update the Client Account Plan for top clients in portfolio and global accounts.
  • To compile and assist with client Tenders.
  • To assist in conducting customer surveys as may be required by other DSV departments or management.
  • Compile and present any other reports as may be required by DSV management on a regular or ad hoc basis.
  • To maintain an acceptable & professional conduct and dress code in line with company guidelines.
