ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Areas of responsibility:

  1. In respect of financial process and controls:
  2. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  3. Ensure that the company’s financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities as well as future growth ambitions
  4. Constantly investigate process improvement
  5. Oversight of all transactional activities (accounts payable and accounts receivable)
  6. Maintain financial records and GL accounts
  7. Monthly journal entry processing
  8. Drive month-end and year-end close procedures
  9. Deliver a clean and accurate trail balance at month end for review by senior staff
  10. Oversight of feasibilities for new stores and store closures
  11. Developing reports and analytical insights to inform the business and to drive business improvement opportunities
  12. Identification of opportunities for working capital improvements
  13. Preparation of accurate monthly management accounts within committed reporting timetable
  14. Reporting on variances on actuals vs budget income and expenditure
  15. Assist in the preparation of board packs
  16. Drive the annual budgeting process, ensuring on-time and accurate delivery in accordance with set timelines
  17. Responsibility for the management of property leases for the business
  18. Monitoring and maintenance of fixed asset register
  19. Review large overdue accounts and work on /propose plans to drive collections
  20. Drive visibility of inventory, accounts payable and cash collections performance
  21. Prepare cash flow forecasts and cash flow maintenance, ensuring that the company has sufficient cash available to meet its commitments
  22. Loading of payment on to bank
  23. Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis in all areas of the company
  24. Provide monthly analysis of variable and fixed expenses and provide recommendations to management to improve profitability
  25. Accurate and on-time statutory return submissions
  26. Ensure that regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met in respect of the year-end audit:
  27. Liaise with external auditors
  28. Coordinate the audit process
  29. Oversee the preparation of audit files and provide assistance where required
  30. Ensure delivery of unqualified annual financial statements within committed timelines
  31. Management of the day-to-day finance function and finance team
  32. Ensuring that the finance team is made up of the right calibre of people to deliver on the finance function’s strategic priorities
  33. Review of all underlying team work including debtors cycle/creditors cycle/bank etc.
  34. Keeping abreast of latest SARS/IFRS developments
  35. Review and sign off of monthly payroll
  36. Assist the senior financial management with ad hoc tasks/projects as and when required
  37. Maintain relationships with the company’s bankers and financiers
  38. Legal related issues, trademark registrations and renewals and company secretarial matters
  39. Tax compliance (VAT and income tax returns) as well as identifying tax planning opportunities
  40. Responsible for the IR function within the business

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. 5 years previous financial management experience
  2. Fully qualified CA(SA) or equivalent – min requirement is B.Com + completed articles
  3. Previous experience in managing a finance team
  4. Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically MS Excel
  5. Medium or large scale recognised ERP experience (Sage, SAP, netsuite)
  6. Payroll administration
  7. SARS reporting
  8. Management reporting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R50000,00 - R60000,00 per month
