Job Type: Full Time Contract
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented admitted Junior Attorney and Conveyancer to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will work closely with senior legal professionals to support the conveyancing process, focusing mainly on property transactions, the administration of estates, and civil litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a strong foundation in Conveyancing and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all conveyancing transactions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Client consultations and assist in the management and administration of estates.
- Draft, review and finalize transfer deeds and legal documents; review legal documents such as sale agreements, contracts, and leases.
- Ensure all documents are accurate and tailored to the specific clients’ needs.
- Civil Litigation and representing clients in court as required, assisting with hearings related to property disputes, probate matters, or estate administration.
- Prepare necessary documentation and support the senior legal team in court proceedings.
- Assign and manage administrative tasks related to the conveyancing process, including liaising with clients, organizing meetings, and coordinating with other legal professionals to ensure smooth progress of transactions.
Requirements
- LLB or equivalent qualification in legal studies.
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- Admission as a Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.
- Ideally 0-5 years experience in conveyancing through previous roles.
- 2-5 years’ experience as an admitted attorney.
- Strong understanding of Civil Litigation, Conveyancing, and property law.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in drafting legal documents.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative team player, willing to learn from senior colleagues and take on new challenges.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain meticulous records.
- Proficiency in using LexisConvey and document management systems is an added advantage.
- Professional approach to all aspects of the role.
