Junior Accountant / Junior Tax Compliance Officer / Accountant (2IC to Founder of Accounting Firm)

Company Description:
A small well-established Accounting and Tax Practice based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town has a vacancy for a Junior Accountant or Accountant to join our team.

Role Description:
The candidate will be required to provide and assist with a range of services to a portfolio of clients e.g. payroll services, bookkeeping up to trial balance, VAT & PAYE reconciliations, financial statements/management accounts, company secretarial work & tax services, individual tax compliance and assist with ad-hoc accounting firm administration.

This is a full-time on-site role located in Durbanville (Cape Town). Experience with Xero accounting, SAGE Payroll and CaseWare will be an advantage. Opportunity to grow with the firm.

Requirements:

1. Diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
2. At least 3 years experience in accounting/payroll/taxation.
3. Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
4. Excellent communication skills in English & Afrikaans (non-negotiable).
5. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
6. Hard-working, detail oriented, high accuracy levels and willing to learn.
7. Honesty and integrity.
8. Time management skills.
9. Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Knowledge of accounting and tax compliance.
12. Proficiency in accounting software & Excel.
13. Must be reliable, follow instructions and respond positively to guidance. Willing to learn.
