Junior Accountant

Our client is seeking a Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting to manage financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the financial health of our organization.

Salary : Up to R 35 000 Depends on experience and qualifications

Position type : Permanent Office based only (Can start 8 or 9am)

Min Qualifications and requirements

1. Diploma or degree in Bookkeeping / Accounting, Finance, or a related field Added Bonus
2. 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping / accounting
3. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
4. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

Responsibilities

1. Financial Record-Keeping: Record daily financial transactions accurately in accounting software.
2. Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly documented.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly.
4. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances and assist in following up on outstanding client payments.
5. Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
6. Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize expenses to ensure proper budget allocation.
7. Assist in preparing expense reports for management review.
8. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file VAT returns and other tax submissions in compliance with regulations.
9. Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
10. Small Payroll: Process employee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments.
11. Maintain records of employee hours, benefits, and deductions.
12. Prepare payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
13. Reporting: Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
14. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
15. Administrative Support: Assist senior accountants with year-end financial preparations.
